What is Lacking in Science Fiction? - Money

There are many stories about exploitation - of resources and people.

There is little about the economics - finding the money (resources) to pay for it all.

There is even less about the reality for almost all people throughout history - the daily grind.

How to earn a living? you ask, if you are free.

How to survive, if life is bearable? you ask, if you are not free.

Why should it be different for us ordinary people in the future? Even biological modifications to us - to give improve resistance to diseases and ageing or lifelong teeth - might leave the daily grind in place. Many of these modifications might be the products of privileged breeding or backgrounds.

The characters in my science-fiction novels have to face daily realities as we do.
